Kemess Mine Recruitment
Northgate owns and operates the Kemess mine, a large open-pit gold and copper mining operation located in north-central British Columbia, approximately 300 kilometres northwest of Mackenzie.
Kemess is a fly in/fly out operation with a 5,000' lighted airstrip, 540 room camp, first aid, exercise and recreation facilities. Flights are provided from Prince George and Smithers for employees on the 2x2 work schedule. Depending on availability, flights are provided from Vancouver, Kelowna, Kamloops, Williams Lake, Prince George and Smithers for employees on the 4x3 work schedule.

We are recruiting for the following position to join our team:
Assayer
Reporting to the Chief Assayer, the successful candidate will have a minimum of 5 years assaying experience in an industrialized setting. The successful candidate will have strong organizational, recordkeeping, housekeeping and time management skills, as well as a methodical approach to work practices with an emphasis on quality and safety. The candidate will also be computer proficient with Microsoft Office products and be a team player. The Assayer is responsible for the following:
- Fire Assaying
- Instrumental analyses
- Wet Chemistry
- Acid Base Accounting
This position will work a two-week in and two-week out work schedule. Flights are provided from Smithers and Prince George.

Instrumentation Mechanic or Instrumentation Mechanic Apprentice
This position will report to the Process Control Supervisor and must possess a valid Instrument Mechanic certification of trade qualification (Red Seal Certification). The apprentice candidate who has completed their third year will be considered.
The successful candidates should meet the following criteria:
- A minimum 3 years experience in an industrialized setting.
- Familiar with Allen Bradley PLC’s, Foxboro IA DCS as well as flow, pressure, temperature, level instruments and control valves.
- Must have good computer skills and be familiar with excel and windows software.

Millwright
This position will report to the Mill Maintenance Foreman and participate in a two-week in and two-week out work schedule. The successful candidate must possess a millwright BC certification of trade qualification, ideally coupled with an inter-provincial qualification. The successful candidate will have 2 years of Sag/Ball Concentrator experience.

Mine Operations Foreman
This position will report to the Mine Operations General Foreman. The successful candidate will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of a mine operations crew. This position requires a minimum of 5 years related experience. The successful applicant must possess a valid BC shift boss ticket.
Other key qualifications include:
- Experience supervising open pit production crews and large mining equipment (electric shovels/200 plus tonne trucks)
- Capable of understanding and complying with daily and weekly engineering plans, while meeting or exceeding production targets and adhering to strict environmental regulations
- Highly organized with an ability to work under pressure
- Strong communication and leadership skills; ability to work in a unionized environment
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to work independently
- Computer proficient

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor of Science degree majoring in Metallurgical, Mineral Processing, or Chemical Engineering. The successful candidate will
- Investigate process problem and develop solutions to optimize efficiency
- Provide technical information to Mill Operators
- Possess a minimum of three years experience in a mineral processing plant as well as previous laboratory experience
- Oversee tests, sample analysis and metallurgical test work on optimizing operating efficiency.
- Maintain and ensure analysis equipment and controls are operational
- Develop operational parameters
- Possess computer literacy skills with Microsoft Office products
- Professional designation with associated metallurgical engineering or related degree with membership or eligibility for membership with APEGBC

We are recruiting the following positions to join our team:
Mill Superintendent
Reporting to the Young-Davidson Project Manager, the Mill Superintendent will be responsible for overseeing the detailed engineering, construction, commissioning of the process plant, recruitment/hiring, and ultimately, the efficient operation and maintenance of a 6,000 tonnes per day plant. Other key qualifications include:
- A minimum of 5 years experience as a superintendent in a gold processing plant. Previous solid knowledge of AG/SAG mill operations, flotation, CIL, carbon elution and refining operations.
- Strong leadership skills
- Proven ability to meet safety, production and budget targets
- Strong organization and time management skills
- Previous experience managing successfully in a hourly environment is preferred
- Computer literacy skills in Word and Excel
- Metallurgical degree or related degree preferred.

Reporting to the Project Manager the Human Resources Superintendent is accountable and responsible for a wide range of HR functions including employee relations, recruitment and retention, occupation classification and pay, training and development, and benefit administration. The successful candidate will:
- Plan, organize, develop and evaluate human resource requirements in conjunction with other departmental managers
- Co-ordinate internal and external training and recruitment activities
- Develop and implement personnel policies and procedures
- Advise and assist other departmental managers on interpretation and administration of personnel policies and programs

Electrical Mechanical Superintendent
Reporting to the Young-Davidson Project Manager, the Electrical Mechanical Superintendent will be responsible for overseeing property wide maintenance and servicing of all underground mobile and surface equipment, buildings and facilities, electrical distribution and electrical installations. As well as supervision of owners electrical/mechanical contracts and commissioning of equipment.
- The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 15 years supervisory experience in the mining industry
